What is the teacher reading? December 2015

It has been a couple of months since I last shared what I have been reading-mostly because I was reading student essays.  I was able to squeeze in Charlotte by Virginia Taylor, Grace's Forgiveness by Molly Jebber, and A Trail of Broken Wings by Sejal Badani.

In November I signed up to be an educator book reviewer on NetGalley, so I could get pre-release copies of books to read and review.

Grace's Forgiveness
by Molly Jebber

Amish romance meets gambling gangsters in Grace's Forgiveness by Molly Jebber.  Grace meets Mark, who has moved from another Amish community due to his brother leaving the community and getting into trouble.  I believe it is love at first sight, but it takes them awhile to figure it out.  Not only does Mark's brother cause some trouble for them, but the thugs after Mark's brother come after Mark for money.  Grace breaks some of the community's rules to care for Mark...will they be able to over-come those challenges? While not a book I would use in my classroom, any Amish romance reader needs to pick up this book, which is the first in a series.

Available January 26th on Kindle and paperback

Charlotte
by Virginia Taylor

Book three in the South Landers series, Charlotte, does not disappoint.  I had not read the first two books in this series when I received this novel, but as a sucker for period romances, I was taken in quickly.  However, I was unsure on the setting until I read the description on Amazon, but perhaps if I had read the first two in the series, I would have had a clearer understanding of the where.  The story of Charlotte and Nicholas' marriage is filled with deception, misunderstandings, and half-truths.  Nicholas refuses to have children after loosing his first wife and only child in childbirth.  Charlotte needs to wed before her past becomes clear to protect her cousin and provide her a home.  I adore books that have unpredictable events, and that is what made this book a prize for me.

Available on February 2nd on Kindle and in paperback

Trail of Broken Wings
by Sejal Badani

Trail of Broken Wings has been on my reading list for months, and I am very happy that I finally picked it up and read it.  This story of four women finding their voices after their husband and father falls into a coma.  Each one of these women has an un-shared past and current secrets they hold.  If only the mother and sisters can open up to each other, they could move forward in united strength.

Trail of Broken Wings is available on Kindle and in paperback TODAY!
